Gypsy Jazz Vocalist Delilah Left Her Home in Budapest to Escape Racial Tension

Gypsy jazz singer Delilah was born in Budapest, Hungary where she had to leave in order to escape racial tension. Delilah inherited her gift of music from her parents, who immersed her in performing from an early age. By the age of 10, she was singing and dancing with her family in a 20-member touring ensemble with one of Hungary’s noted Roma performers, Bongo Margit, throughout Europe. By the time she was 16, she and her older brother Paul Lakatos, a guitar virtuoso, were performing with violinist Sonny Walker, another Roma legend, who jammed regularly with her father and family at impromptu gatherings in her home. Unfortunately, the joy of music was overshadowed by politics and racial tension in Hungary, so Delilah and her family moved to Toronto, Canada in 1998. Following her success in Hungary, this beautiful singer had earned a reputation as a professional songstress in the Toronto area by the age of 19!

Delilah has refined her music to a beautiful smooth jazz and pop sound. She will  be performing this summer in Philadelphia at Warmdaddys on Thursday June 20th. There you’ll get to hear her striking voice in person while she pours her heart and soul into her performance. What a treat! If you’re in the Philly area, you should definitely come and enjoy this Hungarian beauty.

Blues Singer-Songwriter Sijay Gives Away a Free MP3 Download From His New Latest Album, Detroit Club

Combining his musical background with the urban lifestyle of Chicago, singer-songwriter Sijay has paved the way for his desire to make music outside the typical guidelines.  He has allowed himself to perfectly merge musical genres to create music that is in a league of its own.

In addition to producing all of his own music as well as music for other artists, he writes all the lyrics, melodies and even scores the horn parts! He has been said to be a mixture between Brian Wilson and Todd Rundgren.

You can’t really associate Sijay with one genre.  He incorporates Neo-Soul and R&B, with a Blues and Jazz influence.  His lyrics compliment the groovy yet edgy sound he achieves.  Transitioning from his last record, Sijay has established his musical talent.

Check out the Pulse Magazine full page feature article for more intimate info on Sijay.

To celebrate his new album “Detroit Club” and the upcoming holidays, his label is giving away the full length lead single, titled “Detroit Club”, when you sign up for Sijay’s newsletter.  To get your free download, Click here.
