New Spotify Single “Jammin” by Dave Sereny Resembles the Smooth Jazz Music of Grover Washington Jr.

Toronto-based Jazz musician, Dave Sereny, pays tribute to Bob Marley with a soulful tune that sounds like something Grover Washington Jr might have played with his release of “Jammin” drawing influences from Jazz and Soul.

The award-winning Jazz musician, Dave Sereny is back with his soulful guitar licks in his latest single, “Jammin”. A rendition of the classic 1977 Bob Marley and The Wailers song, Sereny puts in his own personal melodic riffs with a classic smooth jazz feel bringing a completely new and soothing way to listen to a classic reggae song! With no lyrics other than the background layers of a women’s choir, Dave really emphasizes the instrumental portions especially his soulful guitar melodies. This song is a clear demonstration of how talented a musician Sereny is and what exactly he can do with a guitar even after taking a few years’ break from releasing new music.

You can listen to this amazing single on Spotify or Apple Music. This song is also available on his album Talk To Me available on streaming platforms. For updates on Dave Sereny, follow him on Twitter or check out www.DaveSereny.com!

Musician Dave Sereny Makes Jazz Guitar Music with His Release of New Single on Spotify “Come Here Baby”

Dave Sereny, an award winning  musician based in Toronto, Canada, for his jazz like guitar music is making noise from his latest release  “Come Here Baby” from his highly anticipated new album “Talk To Me!”

“Talk to me” is Dave Sereny’s newest album that showcases his creative genius taking guitar music in a new direction with his silky smooth notes and the intricate details within his compositions. For instance, on the track ‘Come Here Baby” he incorporated the Uganda-based Neema Children’s Choir on the background vocals with the intention to help raise awareness of the problems facing Uganda’s youth as well as to help fundraise towards the goals of the Neema Child Project. Separating himself from his fellow guitarist he is an artist who not only writes for the sake of his music but for the sake of something much bigger than himself that we can’t help feel humbled by.

The details and intentions of this album have people talking.  The Wave 94.7’s Stu Berketo had some kind words to say about the Toronto Artists’ album:

“Talk To Me unleashes 14 amazing tracks, a dozen of which are original, and blends stylish guitar jazz, funk and soul influences into a project that is easily defined by it’s beats per minute, and Sereny’s own vocal talent blended among brilliantly arranged instrumentals. ”

Open Your Heart by Geoff Alpert is a Work of Passion and Dedication

Geoff Alpert is truly one of the most remarkable musicians in the smooth jazz scene today.  He took a many year hiatus from music to be an amazing father and husband and found his way back after the untimely death of his wife.  His music gained a deep emotional tone and has culminated with his debut album, “Open Your Heart.”  It is a beautiful collection of songs that highlights tones of smooth jazz, Latin, R&B, funk and even hints of pop.  The genre fusion creates a highly accessible work that anybody can appreciate.

It also highlights the often-overlooked trombone.  It’s great to see the smooth jazz trombone in the foreground and exciting to hear that solo lines Alpert has written.  One highlight of the album is the song “Thinking About You,” which is a musical memento dedicated to his departed mother and wife.  It is well worth your time to take a listen.

You can listen to the album on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.

Smooth Jazz Singer Jan Daley Releases Memorial Day Version Of “The One She’s Been Waiting For”

In honor of Memorial Day coming up, smooth jazz singer Jan Daley, has released a special version of her song “The One She’s Been Waiting For”. The original song can be found on Jan Daley’s newest smooth jazz record which was released in April 2017 called “The Way of a Woman”. She made a few lyric changes in touching tribute to all the men, women, families and friends of the Armed Forces including her father who perished in Germany in 1945 while on a mission to pick up P.O.W’s, after World War II, whom she never got a chance to meet.

The original track on the album was incredibly well executed; however, these little changes to the lyrics add a little bit more of a personal touch from Jan. It is definitely a song that will touch the hearts of every person that listens to it. You can now purchase this special version of the song on CD Baby. Geoff Alpert Brings the Trombone to the Musical Foreground with his Smooth Jazz Album Open Your Heart

Geoff Alpert’s music is an incredible blend of Smooth Jazz, R&B, Pop and Latin sound signatures.  His debut album Open Your Heart, is a wonderful collection of ten tunes that all prominently feature the smooth jazz trombone and play as a tapestry of content devoted to Alpert’s life and experiences.

Two of the most well received tunes off the smooth jazz album “Thinking About You” and “Zen Funk.”  “Thinking About You” is a tribute to his departed mother and wife and the song is ripe with emotion.  “Zen Funk” is, similarly, a tribute to the Ken-Ka-Kung Fu Club (a martial arts school which Geoff has been both a student/teacher at for four decades).  The intent behind almost every song on this album is extremely apparent and gives both the artist as well as the work a very personable touch.  Geoff explains that, “this album – like my teaching of Ken-Ka-Kung Fu – is all about love, sharing and the willingness to open your heart.”

You can listen to the album on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.

Be sure to keep up with Geoff on Facebook, Twitter, Reverbnation and his official website www.GeoffAlpert.com for any updates.

Geoff Alpert Draws Inspiration From Wayne Henderson In New Album Open Your Heart

Being a self taught trombone player, Alpert spent many years perfecting his sound. He took a break from his playing in the early 80’s to be a devoted father and husband. After the painful passing of his wife in 2002, he went back to his roots and picked up the trombone once again and used the music as a vessel to convey his emotions.

With the help of bassist Darryl Williams and musical director/keyboardist Gail Jhonson, he was inspired to make “Open Your Heart”. The album has an incredible mix of jazz, pop, R&B and funk which are very reminiscent of the sounds that we would hear from Wayne Henderson and highlights Alpert’s exceptional trombone playing.

Geoff Alpert Releases Incredible Jazz Album Open Your Heart

Geoff Alpert’s new Jazz Fusion album “Open Your Heart” is a terrific collection of ten tunes that takes musical ideas and influences from not only the jazz universe but also funk, rhythm and blues, pop and Latin music.  The commonality between the tracks is Alpert’s superb and prominently featured trombone playing.

After over forty years of teaching Ken-Ka-Kung-Fu, Alpert attributes much of his musical inspiration to the qualities of love and sharing that his martial arts experience taught him. He has a constant focus on wanting to challenge himself in multiple ways, not just in martial arts but also his music. That can all be heard in his album which you can find on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.
