Smooth Jazz Artist Geoff Alpert Climbs To Number One Spot On Reverbnation Jazz Charts!

This past weekend smooth jazz artist, Geoff Alpert, hit the number one spot on the Regional San Diego Jazz Reverbnation Charts! The hard work that Geoff has put in to creating his debut album is really paying off. Being a self taught trombone player, Alpert spent many years perfecting his sound. He played tirelessly for years, but then took a break from his playing in the early 80’s to be a devoted father and husband.

His newest album “Open Your Heart” comes at you with a mix of jazz, pop, R&B, funk and Latin sounds that can speak to anybody who listens. The album highlights Alpert’s exceptional trombone playing, which is something that you don’t hear regularly.

Singer Songwriter Rhett May Releases Amazing Creatures of the Night Youtube Video

Born in Calcutta, Rhett May has had a long international musical journey to get to this point.  He moved to Australia early in his life and took a multi-decade break from music before releasing his newest album Creatures of the Night.  However, the album contains hints of Mays’ Calcutta upbringing with his mastery of the Sitar being showcased.  May’s album is a cohesive flowing experience with no weak links.  Each and every song moves seamlessly from one to another as if the entire album were written as a cohesive listening journey.  The album’s continuity is reminiscent to the classic days of rock and keeps the listener on the edge of their seat for the entire experience.

The first song, “Somebody’s Watching You” is an amazing tune.  It has guitars playing satisfying distorted lines underneath carefully written melodic lead work.  The album’s title track Creatures of the Night also a killer rock tune that breaks away from the standard rock n roll sound that you hear from many modern artists.  You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

If you want to check more out of Rhett May’s music, he has a FREE DOWNLOAD up on Noisetrade of “Lexxi May”. If you love end up loving both of these tunes, then head to iTunes to get yourself a copy of the album.

Jan Daleys New Smooth Jazz Album Hits Home with Listeners

Jan Daley’s new album “The Way of a Woman” is impressing listeners from beyond just the smooth jazz realm.  Music lovers of all kinds are gravitating toward the confident, vocally dynamic and polished sound that Daley has become known for.  Her accompanists and producer Michael B. Sutton did a fantastic job of creating a lush and full rhythm section that never overpowers the artist.  Jan’s swooning voice stays above the players and creates a new and unique sound for every song she performs.

Of the eleven songs present on the album, Jan Daley personally wrote six of them.  Between the personal touch of these six songs and the incredible classic Great American Songbook vibe (a collection of the most popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century) in the other five tunes, Daley’s smooth jazz album is memorable and stands out from other smooth jazz artists of today.  The thought and intent that is clear in each of her songs is impressive and will hold you under it’s spell for the entirety of the album.

You can download the title song from her EP “When Sunny Gets Blue” FOR FREE from Noisetrade. To learn more about Daley and to keep up with her latest updates, check out her Facebook and her official website here: www.JanDaley.com.

Geoff Alpert Draws Inspiration From Wayne Henderson In New Album Open Your Heart

Being a self taught trombone player, Alpert spent many years perfecting his sound. He took a break from his playing in the early 80’s to be a devoted father and husband. After the painful passing of his wife in 2002, he went back to his roots and picked up the trombone once again and used the music as a vessel to convey his emotions.

With the help of bassist Darryl Williams and musical director/keyboardist Gail Jhonson, he was inspired to make “Open Your Heart”. Geoff Alpert Releases Incredible Jazz Album Open Your Heart

Geoff Alpert’s new Jazz Fusion album “Open Your Heart” is a terrific collection of ten tunes that takes musical ideas and influences from not only the jazz universe but also funk, rhythm and blues, pop and Latin music.  The commonality between the tracks is Alpert’s superb and prominently featured trombone playing.

After over forty years of teaching Ken-Ka-Kung-Fu, Alpert attributes much of his musical inspiration to the qualities of love and sharing that his martial arts experience taught him. He has a constant focus on wanting to challenge himself in multiple ways, not just in martial arts but also his music. That can all be heard in his album which you can find on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.
