Rhett Mays Creatures of the Night Album Loved by Music Critics

Jason Hillenburg of Skopemag.com writes, “Originally born in the rather exotic environs of Calcutta, India, Rhett May enjoyed the fruits of living in such a vibrant culture for many eyars and started his first band early on in life after the sounds of 1960’s music like The Beatles, Steppenwolf, The Yardbirds and Cream migrated from the distant west into eastern culture.”  This is an all-encompassing first take on the musical inspiration behind Rhett May’s music.  His affinity towards both western and eastern influences turned Rhett into an incredibly well rounded artist in many musical spheres.   Having worked with incredible artists like George Harrison, Queen and Ray Charles and performing for cultural icons like the Queen of Bhutan has really resulted Rhett becoming an exceptional musician.  His newest album “Creatures of the Night” is a testament to this.  It is a rock-fusion work that encompasses much unusual instrumentation, grooves and writing styles that are absolutely successful in execution.  He also shot a video for the title track of the album that is gripping and will keep you watching until the last second.  You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

If you want to check more out of Rhett May’s music, he has a FREE DOWNLOAD up on Noisetrade of “Lexxi May”. If you love end up loving both of these tunes, then head to iTunes to get yourself a copy of the album.

Acclaimed Creatures of the Night Rock Album by Rhett May Surpassed All Expectations

Rhett May’s “Creatures of the Night” is truly an exceptional rock fusion album.  Rhett is one of the most promising musicians in rock today.  His music seems to improve with every album he releases. In a review by Lance Wright of GasHouseRadio Rhett is described as, “a performer who has been empowered by having another chance for his music to affect and entertain the masses and each of the songs on this new release embraces that opportunity.”

Rhett May, born in Calcutta, has had a diverse and multi-cultural career.  In addition to his superb skills as a songwriter and guitar player, he has also mastered the Sitar and worked extensively with eastern instrumentations that are rarely present in contemporary rock.  His song “Elixir of the Gods” really brings these eastern sounds to the foreground and makes them easily enjoyable for listeners from any background.  Another notable song is the second to last “Bella My Baby.”  Contrasting from “Elixir of the Gods,” this tune has an incredible old school rock feel that cuts hard and really shows off May’s phenomenal vocal skills.  In addition to this incredible thirteen-song album, Rhett also produced and released a video to go along with the title track.  It is imaginative, engaging and gripping and will keep you watching until the last second.  You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

The Beatles Would Love Rhett Mays Incredible Rock Fusion Music Creatures of the Night

Rhett May recently released an incredible album titled “Creatures of the Night.”  The album is a rock-based work with incorporated pop, funk, psychedelic and jazz.  “Creatures of the Night” stands out as one of the best rock releases in recent memory and proves that rock n roll is indeed alive and well.  The album contains many original moments but, at times, also reminds the listener of the days of classic artists like the Beatles.  If the Beatles had been formed in this decade, they probably would have been influenced by “Creatures of the Night” for it’s revolutionary qualities much like the revolutionary musical ideas the Beatles had back in their time.

Each song in the album seems to evolve and move through distinct and different musical intentions creating an ebb and flow that lasts throughout the album.  It is one of the few albums released recently that really works as a cohesive listen all the way through.   In addition to the extensive effort put into the music, Rhett also filmed and released a brilliant music video to accompany the title song of the album.  It even has a twist at the end that is well worth the wait!  You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

Rhett May Releases Hit New Video Creatures of the Night on Youtube

Rhett May has recently released a masterpiece of a rock album titled “Creatures of the Night.”  May is a veteran of rock and roll and has been playing in bands for forty years now.  His recently released album is an incredible collection of tunes that is an intelligently designed and expertly executed.  The cohesive work plays almost as one continuous piece that the listener can listen to straight through.  The first song on the album titled “Somebody’s Watching You” is a great example of Rhett taking his time building into the peak of a song using expertly written guitar lines that repeat but don’t get old.  His lyrics are engaging and the song grooves into an incredible finish.

Rhett also released a video for the title track of the album, “Creatures of the Night,” that is outstanding.  The video takes the viewer through a visual journey as well as a musical one and has a twist at the end that you won’t want to miss. You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

Rock Band Blue Meadow, with Naturally 7 ’s Jamal Reed, to Release New Album May 7th

Blue Meadow, an innovative band native to New York City, consists of four singer-songwriters: Densen Curwen, Devon Joseph, Dexter Lendor, and Jamal Reed. You may recognize the name Jamal Reed because of his success with the group Naturally 7.  Best known for their distinct style of “vocal play,” Naturally 7′s style of R&B vocals mixed with beat boxing is carried over to Blue Meadow through Jamal’s instantly identifiable voice.  Blue Meadow’s songs are relatable; the band’s latest music video, “Cloud 9,” shows the trials and tribulations of a young couple’s relationship. You can check it out here!

The band’s new album “39th and 8th” epitomizes in song the diversity of New York City.  This rock and roll band defies the common idea of what rock bands should sound and look like. Born in the Bronx, NY these gentlemen experienced the best and worst of the human spirit.  Blue Meadow’s new album, a musical journey meant to inspire individuality amongst chaos in the greatest city of the world, will be released on May 7th!  You can pre-order the album here.

Following the old adage “if you want something done right, do it yourself”, the boys of Blue Meadow have set out to make music that is truly their own. By mixing an array of different styles into one pot and creating their version of popular rock, their debut album “39th & 8th” proudly introduces a collection of musical styles that epitomize the unique essence, energy and special vibe that is the Big Apple. Inspired and influenced by such greats as The Beatles, Cold Play, U2, Boyz II Men, Billy Joel among others, the distinctive music of Blue Meadow will satisfy your many tastes and moods while moving your emotions to place you want them to go!

If you like Coldplay, Radiohead, or Queen, check out the new alternative rock band Village Kid

I finally found an alternative rock band that stands out of the crowd called Village Kid. My favorite track is “Colourful Girl in a Black and White World”, you can get it and check it out here:

Village Kid is able to combine a variety of different elements into their sound such as funk, rock, and classical. Their sound is very unique and they remind me of Coldplay, Radiohead, and Queen; depending on which song it is.

Their 5 track debut EP “Colourful Girl” came out in July 2010. The band members are multi-talented and play different instruments and have a range of musical backgrounds, so they are able to incorporate string and brass orchestrations, contemporary chord progressions, modern rock and funk grooves, and soulful vocals into their songs. Check out one of their beautiful rock ballads in this music video:
